I would prefer you be harsh. Think of me as someone who has no feelings to be hurt.

Besides, you aren't entirely wrong about me. Obviously, I stand a greater chance of survival based on strategy rather than charisma. But that doesn't make my plan any less mutually beneficial for all parties involved. Cooperation not only ensures the survival of everyone here, but increases our reputations as people who are capable of working together and being trusted, which subsequently increases our chances of survival in the future.

Think of it this way: If the other teams manage to cooperate, and we solely do not, we will be blamed for triggering the killings. Even though it's likely what our hosts were going to do in the first place, that will fall on our heads. In that scenario, whoever survives the first round will be the first that the others turn upon.

Mostly. But I've only been in real battles for a year. I was just training before then. There's things I'm still figuring out.

Some of them. European dragons tend to have larger wings and bodies, and longer limbs. Eastern dragons are longer and thinner, like snakes, and can fly from their own magic. Where I'm from, we tend to lean more towards the European influence, though you can find a mishmash of both. You have different dragons?

I see. That's an interesting fact, and you're not the first person here to tell me that. I wonder what happened in your worlds. But I also wonder if they might not be better off that way.

Is "magic" that big of a cause of strife? If you practice it yourself, I'd think it would be as difficult for you to imagine life without it as it is for me to imagine life without any technology.

I didn't realize there were so many dragon tribes. The ones I know of are black, red, and white dragons. Their country is isolationist, so it's rare to see them, but I've met a few. The Prince was very generous to us when our ship ran aground by their shore, but he couldn't actually allow us in because of the King's decree.

Anything you wish to wear should be fine. The water's warm, so there's no particular need for a rash guard.

That's true. I wouldn't be of much use in a world without magic. But at the same time, it does lie at the heart of the most bloody wars in our history.

Though that's somewhat reductive, isn't it? I'm sure the nobility is perfectly capable of finding new reasons to throw the world into chaos.

[going for it! at length, kaiba emerges from the hut with snorkeling gear and a tasteful violet Hawaiian shirt over short black swim trunks. The shirt's left open, but sadly(?) doesn't have the dramatic flair (or the shoulder pads) of his favored trenchcoats. There's sunglasses hooked to the card locket around his neck. He could probably use a sandwich and a couple days in the sun, but it's obvious he puts effort into his appearance.]

So you said this was your first time doing this?

Yes. Their natural forms are at least twice as tall as me, and very strong... we were lucky to have one fight with us for a short time. In their form that looks like us, they don't have many distinguishing features like Ranulf does, but I hear they have incredibly long lifespans. The Prince was apparently over a hundred years old, but he looked younger and smaller than me, and had dark hair and red eyes.
