[Breaks surface with a sort of mix of gasp and yell, because that thing is still on him. He gives up on pulling off tentacles and punches it in the eye.]

[it makes an angry/pained squiddy sort of noise at being pulled and punched and sent into oxygen, finally unwrapping itself as best as it can and spraying the both of them with ink before attempting to flee back into the water]

[Swimming back while short on breath is harder, but he's doing it, while frequently looking over to Kaiba to see if he's swimming okay.]

[he's keeping up fine; may be that what was hurt the most was his pride. at least they're being left alone for now; they should be able to make it safely to the beach, which, in his case at least, is very appreciated as he lands somewhat heavily in the sand]

[scowls at it; luckily looks don't kill so he'll probably have an oddly-shaped bruise, but nothing major. still, he claws his fists into the sand]

I shouldn't have let that thing get the drop on me. It won't happen again.

...Ranulf and Soren have been saying it's important that I go back from this. I think a lot of people wouldn't be happy with me if I left... At least I don't intend to go anywhere while I still have responsibilities and the mercenary troop to lead.

And I would miss people. That's why I may ask someone to come with.
