[kaiba doesn't go out quite as far, and seems to check back regularly to see how far the current has taken them from where they started]

The ocean's pretty deep, that's the point. Bad time to get a cramp, if you were considering it.

I know, but... it's just... dark here. It must be very deep.

[Treads back, closer to Kaiba.]

Could be anything down there. Maybe a sunken ship. Maybe more ancient sea life. Maybe--

[he breaks off, twitching away from something]

[Backs off a bit.]

[he flinches away again, this time staring down but it's too dark to see much]

Something keeps brushing my leg.

Seaweed? Or...

[Comes closer again.]

[it is dark below, but that's not due to the water being any less clear. but this time, if one's paying attention, a flash of something can be seen moving through the water, something long and thin and pale that's not legs--or at least not kaiba's leg--zipping ikewards before dipping deeper, out of sight]

...Let's move. Back to the shallows.

[Waits a moment though, so he's not ditching Kaiba.]

[and then he's yanked under the water with the next wave, whoops]

Kaiba!!

[Thrashes a hand through the water trying to grab him, then sucks a deep breath and dives down after him.]

[Ike doesn't have to go too far before running into a giant squid.

Okay, it might not be a true Giant Squid. It may even really be an octopus? Either way it feels pretty big to one Seto Kaiba, who would rather not have even a small tentacle wrapped around his ankle so is attempting to kick the squid in the head (beak?) to get himself released before it does whatever it is that squids (octopi?) want humans for]

[Grabs for his shoulders and attempts to swim up with him, until he realizes something is holding him down. So he goes further down and grabs that tentacle, trying to rip it free of either Kaiba or it's owner's body.]

[okay the squid doesn't like that very much, at least not once it's obvious that Ike's won this strength contest. giving some angry wriggles it releases kaiba, who swims for the surface, since breathing has bumped up from a nice bonus to a must have. unfortunately, his squid friend is now a squid enemy and tries using some of its other tentacles to smack into Ike]

[Ike is not pleased either and is trying to rip apart any tentacle that sticks to him. Though the longer he's down there, the weaker his pulling gets.]

[He is doing a quite respectable job in this war of attrition, but the squid, already down a few tentacles, is still flailing around attempting to latch onto him more securely like a pushy 4-year-old]

[Now, I wish I could say that the next thing that happens is that the squid gets struck in the head with a playing card, Gambit-style, but even if Kaiba had cards in his swim trunks (which, he might), paperboard really isn't very hydrodynamic. So instead he tries the somewhat less silly option of grabbing both Ike AND the squid and kicking for the surface]

[Breaks surface with a sort of mix of gasp and yell, because that thing is still on him. He gives up on pulling off tentacles and punches it in the eye.]

[it makes an angry/pained squiddy sort of noise at being pulled and punched and sent into oxygen, finally unwrapping itself as best as it can and spraying the both of them with ink before attempting to flee back into the water]

[As nice as a second course dinner would be, Ike lets it go. He's busy coughing saltwater/ink anyway.]

Ugh... Kaiba? Are you alright?

[coughs a bit himself, wiping the ink from his face best he can]

...Ask me when I'm on land.

[Swimming back while short on breath is harder, but he's doing it, while frequently looking over to Kaiba to see if he's swimming okay.]

[he's keeping up fine; may be that what was hurt the most was his pride. at least they're being left alone for now; they should be able to make it safely to the beach, which, in his case at least, is very appreciated as he lands somewhat heavily in the sand]

[Drops to the sand next to him, still catching his breath.]

Yes... I think so. Just tired. Is your leg okay? You were pulled down so fast, I...

Don't worry about it.

[scowls at it; luckily looks don't kill so he'll probably have an oddly-shaped bruise, but nothing major. still, he claws his fists into the sand]

I shouldn't have let that thing get the drop on me. It won't happen again.

[Worries anyway, too bad!!!]

[Ike manages to sit up, wet and coated with sand, and checks on Kaiba's leg. He gingerly places a hand on his skin near the bruise as he examines.]

...Doesn't look twisted.

...If it helps... the creature's legs are in much worse shape.

[Arms? Whatever.]
