Why don't we retrace our steps back to the waterfall? Then we can follow our tracks in the snow back to the sled.

[he turns around, stalking more slowly back to the waterfall, trying to lose neither the trail nor his companion. the sun is still fairly high in the sky, but the trees are also fairly high, so there's definitely been a change in the light since they first left on this excursion.
[still, it's easy enough to come up on the waterfall; they hadn't gotten too far from it in the first place, plus it's large and impressive enough to spot from a distance. once they're back to what even kaiba must grudgingly admit is a pretty cool waterfall, the trail mingles with a couple others, human and otherwise. kaiba pauses and turns to yusuke; apparently he's finished actively sulking]
...This one is probably the path I took here, so whatever the next freshest tracks are should be yours. Mine was not particularly direct; I don't know if yours is any better.

[The logs are starting to get a little heavy with all this chasing Kaiba around and backtracking, so he sets off straightaway. He begins to retrace his steps, which go on a slight detour before stopping at a (sadly mutiltated) tree. From there, it's more or less a meandering path from where he'd stopped to pick up fallen logs here and there.]

--Ah! Thank you, Kaiba-san. You're very kind.

I believe I understand now. You are a "tsundere", meaning you behave outwardly cold while hiding your true feelings. It is not the first time I have encountered someone who displayed similar behaviour.
[Nods to himself!!! He's a genius.]

[he dumps the wood with the rest on the sled, offended by the very thought of someone thinking he had any "deres," much less with tsuns attached]
The clown nonsense is equally ridiculous. He claimed they have priests as part of their little horrorcore rap unit. Note that they are baffled by the workings of a magnet, just to let you know the intelligence level we're working at.
no subject
Frankly, I'm not sure I understand a word Dave says at the best of times... What's "horrorcore"?
no subject
[since everything seems to be gathered, he takes the sled and starts walking it down to the cabin. home stretch!]
no subject
[Yusuke follows, somehow managing to avoid getting distracted, this time around.]
no subject
[no one's getting lost this time! NO MAN LEFT BEHIND let's just dump this and be warm for once]
no subject
[Not that he knows a lot about either horror movies or rap, but??? Once they finally arrive back at the cabin, Yusuke helps carry the second batch of logs inside. After topping up the fire a little and making sure it's still burning brightly, he flops down to sit on the couch, exhausted.]
Ahh... I have never been so appreciative of heat until this moment.
no subject
[despite having dropped the logs and stuff, Kaiba doesn't remove his coat or even move to the couch, just kind of awkwardly crouches in front of the fire, as if attempting to warm his hands under the pretense of further messing with the logs despite Yusuke having done a fine job of fire management]
no subject
[Or sand and snow, not grass, in this case. Yusuke's managed to shed his coat, but is glued to the couch enough that he's just left it folded over the back of the chair for now. Although there is one thing that will make him move--]
Hmm... I believe the call of hot chocolate is beckoning to me. Would you like one, too, Kaiba-san?
no subject
[He actually turns to look at Yusuke's offer, confused...though eventually he shrugs and goes back into glaring the fire into somehow becoming hotter]
...Fine, so long as it's hot.
[it IS right there in the name]
no subject
[Yusuke gets up to make them both the drinks. He adds a generous amount of cream and marshmallows to his; having unlimited access to food and snacks is still a novelty, when he's used to going hungry all the time, so he still wants to take full advantage of it. He doesn't add any toppings to Kaiba's to be on the safe side, though.]
Here you are. [He returns, handing him the drink.] Would you like to join me?
[He gestures to the couch. Squatting like that all evening would probably be uncomfortable...]
no subject
[...Then, quietly goes and sits like a normal person, legs crossed. He gives the hot chocolate a tentative sniff before just wrapping his hands around his cup.]
How can you drink it with all that stuff in it?
no subject
A friend introduced me to drinking them this way. Ann loves sweet things, so--
[...Oh, right, Ann. Yusuke's expression falls, and he goes silent.]
no subject
...Did you want to want to talk about it?
no subject
...I'll be all right. I'm going to do everything in my power to save her.
